Searching for love in all the wrong places

Checking my newsfeed on FB has replaced my gratitude prayer, and my morning pages.  Tall and sleek, taking up very little airspace in the bedroom, Siri had become my bedfellow.  Searching for love in all the wrong places had become like geo caching in my life.  One clue said married, the other trail led to addiction, or straight and otherwise unavailable.  Each unsuccessful attempt at love added 1 mil to the suit of armor I was sporting on my chest.

After years of working through the pain of competition in my early life for love, like a debutante I am coming out. Dressed in my finest outerwear, and shiny shoes, I am on display and ready for love.  Not just any suitor will do, I am seeking my soul mate, the one who will have my back no matter what or where, as I will have theirs.

Time to create some space in my life for you. For over a year your tooth brush is handy in the bathroom, but your side of the bed is still taken up with Siri and Sashi my cat.  The first is negotiable the second is not, but she is small and will move over to allow you room to move.  Friends have been eager for me to meet you, but they tell me that I need to make space in my life, as I work too much and play too little.

My brain is full, with a new book, new programs, and now I have added more. It is time to subtract. Let’s see, the tv that lulls me to sleep can go, in exchange for good conversation and meals with my beloved.  I am committing to meditate, perhaps I will find you on the ethers of spaciousness.  Up till now the silt of broken promises and disappointment dammed the flow, but with time and energy the water is once again running clear.

In the past six months I have been given several opportunities to see the remnants of unavailability that were mine.  After a dinner party, while walking in the woods, the wind in the trees howled my name and said, why not her? She is attractive, a artist, and seemingly nice. Realizing I could not longer stave the universe with my protest, I went with her on a walk.  While she was not the one I was seeking, I assured the heavens I was willing to try.  Then on a trip I met someone I liked, who again was taken, but I realized it was the energy that I sought not her. Armed with this information, I recognized a new friend.

Now I have a crush. May or may not lead to anything grand, and it does not matter,  as it gave me yet another opportunity to see a chink in the weakened armor.  I recognize in you the energy, the passion and the exuberance that I seek from my soul mate.  Now the work is to understand that I deserve someone equally as grand.  For years, the attractions were like food for a tiger, but now they are indicators of my growth and willingness to have the I that is me in you.
